Senior Thesis - Fall 2012

Into the Not-So-Wild

The constructed dialogues featured in my series of photographs are inspired by the encroaching human presence in nature. The images mix wonder and oddity into the viewer, while also creating a play between the natural and artificial. By incorporating man-made items, such as trash, tires, and construction tools and placing them in a foreign environment, I aim to make an exaggerated statement on our human footprint, creating a literal invasion on the once untouched landscapes. These subtle manipulations in everyday landscapes trick the eye into imagining a future where these scenes are reality. The images intend to evoke personal interpretation and in turn allow the viewer to question their own environmental impact.

Moab - Thanksgiving 2012

Bikes, friends, beer and a fire-roasted turkey are all you need for a Slick Rock Thanksgiving.

GRANT $$$

This past spring, I received a USP grant of $2000 through MSU. Stoked for some help with film, processing and printing. My proposed project was aimed towards a commentary on the human impact in natural environments.

After my proposal was accepted, more research and planning was done over the summer, followed mass amounts of photographing around Montana this fall. Check out my senior capstone to see what I've been doing with that ...
